Parentalk is designed to give parents the opportunity to share their experiences, learn from each other and discover some important principles of parenting.
This course is an introduction to parenting principles and is suitable for parents with children of all ages. However, we mainly promote the course among parents with children of primary school age or younger so that the attendees are more likely to have common issues to explore. The course includes input from the leaders and from a video, individual exercises and group discussions. Topics covered include: being yourself; listening to your children; setting boundaries; and building family memories.
The course leader is:
* Jenny Cope, who has brought up a son and a daughter and is now enjoying being a grandmother. As the church's pastoral worker, Jenny has done a lot of work with children and she currently leads the "Teddy Bears" group for carers and toddlers.
* Course Attendees, whose experience will vary, but whose individual insights often prove very helpful to other people facing similar issues.
All attendees will receive a full-colour course magazine and parenting books will also be available for course members to borrow. There is no charge for attending the course; we offer it as a way of serving our community.
